A short distance to the north from the bustling Cabo area, Todos Santos and the Pacific area is a world unto itself of spectacular shores, historic settings, and near-perfect weather. When missionaries first lit upon California Baja Sur’s shores, they founded a town on the coast called Todos Santos in 1723. Others made great use of the rich environment that surrounds the area, planting numerous crops until the area became a leading producer of sugarcane. It wasn’t until the 1980s that this off-the-grid city found itself in a swell of tourism when the road between Todos Santos and Cabo San Lucas was paved for the first time.
Today, Todos Santos and the Pacific area is a genuine paradise of natural ecosystems, historical sights, and countless boutiques, eateries, and other settings that delightfully accent the Colonial Spanish and Mission architectural styles. Between the competitive, up-and-coming housing market and the growing list of attractions, this locale appeals to those seeking a more private, peaceful, secluded destination that still places you well within a short drive to Cabo San Lucas.

As with its shopping options, Todos Santos in no way lacks in the dining arena. Check out happy hour at Barracuda Cantina, a premier open-air beach bar, and food truck. Then visit Carlito’s Place for some top-tier sushi or DUM for some excellent French cuisine. Head over to Jazamango for a more elegant dining experience, or maybe The Green Room, which prides itself on a casual vibe paired with elevated Mexican gastronomy. As if that weren’t enough, other excellent restaurants include the organic Hierbabuena Restaurant or cafe Doce Cuarenta.
Things to Do
This peaceful town is nonetheless still teeming with things to do for any tourist or resident, especially when it comes to festivals and natural sights.
One of the most popular festivals is Gastrovino, a top food and wine festival in the whole of California Baja Sur that celebrates the cuisine culture from around the entire peninsula. Or celebrate the fine arts at the annual Open Studio Tour, where anyone can enjoy the studios of Todos Santos’ finest artists.
Once you’ve had your fill of some of the cultural sights of Todos Santos, take advantage of its crowning achievement: the nature that surrounds it, such as Cerritos Beach, which has the privilege of being one of the safest beaches on the Pacific side for swimming and one of the top beaches worldwide for surfing.
