Discovering the finest beaches around Todos Santos requires a venture beyond the town's limits. From the southerly Cerritos Beach to the northern Playa La Pastora, these coastal gems beckon exploration. Accessible mostly via sandy offshoots from the main Highway 19, these stretches of shoreline promise diverse experiences.

What sets the beaches of Todos Santos apart? Primarily, it's their renown for surfing. These shores are alive with the thrum of surf culture. But beyond the waves, activities abound, including fishing, leisurely strolls, sunbathing, and marveling at breathtaking sunsets adorning the west coast. Some beaches even boast exclusive beach clubs or inviting pools, offering a touch of luxury to your seaside escapades.

During the winter months, from December to March, a special treat awaits: the majestic presence of gray whales and humpbacks gracing the coastline, a spectacle not to be missed.

While many beaches in Todos Santos and the surrounding Pacific region of Baja California Sur may pose challenges for swimming due to rip currents, fear not. There are safe havens where you can indulge in the refreshing embrace of the sea, and we'll guide you to these hidden treasures.

Let's begin our exploration with a visit to Playa Los Cerritos, the southernmost beach of Todos Santos. Located at the Km 64 marker along Highway 19, this beach, nestled within the quaint farming community of El Pescadero, has earned its place as a favorite among visitors. Known for its stellar surf breaks, Los Cerritos Beach caters to surfers of all levels, offering an exhilarating experience amid the rolling waves.

Next on our list is Playa San Pedrito, situated in the charming town of El Pescadero. Accessible via a dirt road off Highway 19 at the Km 60 marker, this tranquil stretch of coastline exudes laid-back vibes, drawing surfers, van enthusiasts, and culinary aficionados alike. With its beginner-friendly surf breaks, San Pedrito Beach is perfect for those looking to ride the waves, while nearby eateries celebrate the region's bountiful harvest with delectable farm-to-table delights.

Venture further to discover Playa Las Palmas, a hidden gem embraced by the Pacific Ocean's azure waters. Accessible via a rugged unpaved road, this secluded paradise, adorned with swaying palm trees and rugged rock formations, offers a serene escape from the bustle of everyday life. Here, you might encounter wild horses roaming freely along the shoreline, adding a touch of enchantment to your beachside retreat.

Continue your journey to Playa Punta Lobos, accessible via a sandy road off Highway 19 at Km 54. Named for the sea lions often spotted near its rocky point, this beach provides a safe haven for swimmers, sheltered from the surf by natural rock formations. Watch as local fishermen expertly navigate the waves, bringing in their bountiful catch to share with visitors.

If that’s not enough, you can also hike the Sugar Port Trail. It starts behind the San Cristóbal Hotel and climbs up the cliff overlooking Playa Punta Lobos, where you can enjoy stunning sea views.

Embark on an adventure to El Faro Beach, accessed via the same turn-off road at Km 54. This picturesque stretch of coastline plays host to the El Faro Beach Club & Spa, offering a serene oasis for beachgoers seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Indulge in beachside massages, savor delectable seafood tacos, or simply unwind by the infinity pool as you soak in the mesmerizing ocean views.

Note: If you need to reserve a spot, please book in advance. There is a fee for the day - about MXN 500 (USD 30) per person. The cost is MXN 650 (USD 38) for pool loungers and MXN 650 (USD 38) for beach hammocks and chairs. Since all beaches in Mexico are public, you can of course use the beach for free if you don't want to use the services of a beach club.

Nearby, Playa La Poza beckons with its tranquil lagoon, a haven for birdwatchers amidst its verdant surroundings. While the pounding waves make swimming impractical, the lagoon's abundant birdlife offers a mesmerizing sight for nature enthusiasts.

Closer to town lies Playa La Cachora, an extension of Playa La Poza. With its wide expanse of sandy shores, this beach invites leisurely strolls, particularly at sunset, when the sky ignites in a blaze of colors.

Further north, Playa Los Mangos awaits, nestled within the quaint community of Las Tunas. Here, conservation efforts by Tortugueros Las Playitas provide sanctuary for endangered sea turtles, offering visitors a chance to witness the magical sight of hatchlings making their journey to the sea.

Finally, conclude your beach odyssey at Playa La Pastora, renowned for its expansive golden sands and occasional sightings of advanced surfers and majestic whales. Indulge in seaside dining at The Green Room, where mezcalitos and shrimp tostadas tantalize the taste buds amidst a backdrop of breathtaking ocean views.

In essence, the beaches of Todos Santos offer a tapestry of experiences, each weaving its unique allure into the fabric of coastal living. Whether you seek the thrill of surfing, the serenity of nature, or simply a moment of bliss by the sea, these shores promise an unforgettable journey of discovery and delight.
